Ultrasound Valve Diagnostics
Ultrasound is the best methodology to diagnose valves, solenoids, and steam traps. Simply contact the UL101 Ultrasound Detector to the housing of the valve. If the valve is open, you will hear the flow of gas or fluid as it vibrates the housing. If the valve is closed, there should be absolute silence. A closed valve that has sound is a clear indication of an internal by-pass leak.

The UL101 CBM Kit includes four lengths of solid probe attachments used to contact the valve housing. The kit also includes an ultrasound transmitter for testing non-pressurized systems.
CTRL worked with Schlumberger Oilfield Services to write procedures for using ultrasound to diagnose valves, solenoids, pumps, and other equipment.

The UL101 (Top Recording) is compared to 3 competitive devices while monitoring a steam trap. Notice the difference in the signal when this bucket trap is closed. The UL101 has the best signal-to-noise ratio.

Benefits
01
Sensitivity
The UL101 Ultrasound Detector is the most sensitive device on the market today. It's sensitivity and signal-to-noise ratio are useful to indicate the smallest internal leaks.
02
Single Point of Testing
The UL101 is capable to be used to diagnose valves and steam traps by simply contacting the housing at a single location. Other ultrasound devices must take reading upstream and downstream of the valve and compare the dB levels.
03
Ease of Use
Simply contact the valve or steam trap housing. Adjust the sensitivity up or down to listen. There is no need to adjust the frequency or volume.
04
Versatile
The UL101 Ultrasound Detector is more than a leak detector. The UL101 CBM Kit includes attachments for all ultrasound testing applications. If you want to record valves or steam traps to demonstrate your finding, you can add an InCTRL subscription and record from your phone.
Injectors, Compressors, And More
The UL101 can be used for numerous other applications in the same way it is used to diagnose valves.
