Ultrasonic Testing OverviewUltrasonic testing provides a quick and accurate method for equipment condition analysis and leak detection. With ultrasonic technology, early warning signs and defects can be detected, preventing costly repairs, safety-related injuries, and unscheduled downtime. Testing can be performed in two modes, contact mode and scan mode. CTRL's ultrasonic sensors provide the greatest testing capabilities, with the best sound clarity (highest signal-to-noise ratio on the market) and sensitivity. Additionally, each sensor is handheld, constructed of extruded aluminum for durability, and requires no calibration or special maintenance. |
Contact ModeMany industries are faced with the challenge of extending the life and improving the performance of critical equipment. Testing in contact mode enables the user to distinguish and assess the operating condition of a single component such as a bearing, gear, valve, pump, steam trap, or engine. Scan ModeMost facilities have systems involving compressed air or other gas, steam, and electrical systems. CTRL's ultrasonic sensors enable the user to detect and pinpoint problems such as compressed air, steam, and vacuum leaks; leaks in exhaust systems, heat exchangers, and A/C systems; and electrical discharge or arcing. Testing is possible without shutting down the system in question. Additionally, CTRL ultrasonic sensors can be used with the UT2000 Universal Transmitter to detect seal, gasket, and weld defects and other leaks in non-pressurized systems or enclosures. |
